Testing the Field

Testing the Field

I decided to test the field.

For years, I’ve trusted the abundance mindset and the law of attraction. They’ve worked for me in small ways and in big ones. So I asked I myself: why not take one more leap?

The kids are grown and gone. My old relationships feel like abandoned mansions — once full of life, now weathered and empty. I don’t have to be anywhere in particular, and I’ve always wanted to try living in a beach town like the one I grew up in.

So I asked the field: what would happen if I gave up my comfortable life in the southeastern U.S. and moved to a European beach town?

I turn to tarot when I want an answer. This time the cards said, “try.” I asked if it was a FAFO warning. The cards came back: “maybe.” At nearly seventy, I know “maybe” can cut both ways — but I took it as yes.

So I cleared out my house. Gave away furniture, electronics, clothes, all of it. Kept a few things in storage in Georgia — my guitar and keyboard — and packed three bags. Then I boarded a flight to Portugal.

Lisbon was my first stop. I stayed a few nights on a sailboat in the marina — cheap, but also an adventure. In just a couple of days I walked nearly thirty miles, saw the sights, and got a real feel for the city. Lisbon is alive, and I’d recommend it to any traveler.

Now I’m in Lagos, in the Algarve, giving it a couple of months to see if this could be home. I have a little money (not enough), a little income (also not enough), and a lot of trust in the field.

Will it work out? I don’t know. But I do know this: if you can’t trust yourself to be yourself, you’ll never be yourself. The only way to find out is to try.

And I’m not betting against me.

Bom dia.
