ABOUT
Rick West — the primalbeet
I've been around long enough, and far enough from home, to have earned a few opinions I don't feel any need to defend.
Here's the one that runs under everything I make: nothing moves in a straight line. Nothing improves on schedule. We sit still for long stretches — individually, as a species — circling the same ground, mistaking the circling for progress. Then something breaks, fast and without warning, and for a moment we're somewhere new. Then we sit still again. I've watched this happen in the world, and in myself, often enough to stop expecting the smooth version.
I got the training. I did the deal. I spent real years in the C-suite. I'm not swinging blind.
I hate bias. I don't lean for anybody — not a cause, not a crowd, not a check. Whatever objectivity a person can actually manage, I try to manage. I know full well that isn't much.
None of this resolves. That's the point, or as close to a point as I'm willing to commit to. Ask me again next year. I'll have learned something. I still won't have learned a thing.
